Feb. 21: Sunderland Democrats holding caucus
SUNDERLAND — The Sunderland Democratic Town Committee will convene on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Sunderland Public Library to elect three delegates and three alternates to attend the Democratic State Convention.
Committee Chair Susan Triolo said those elected will have a chance to speak with “high-level” elected officials and Democratic activists from across the state at the convention.
“What is always exciting about the Massachusetts convention is the wide diversity of the delegates: many women, many young people, huge numbers of people of color — all engaged in the business of the kind of state and country we want and demand from our elected officials,” Triolo said in a statement.
According to the caucus announcement, registered and pre-registered Democrats in Sunderland who turn 16 years old by Feb. 19 may vote at the meeting and serve as delegates or alternates. People between 16 and 35 years old, individuals with disabilities, people of color and members of the LGBTQ community who are not elected as delegates or alternates are encouraged to apply to be “Add-on Delegates” at the caucus. Those who are interested can visit massdems.org/caucus or register at the meeting. Anyone who is interested in serving as a delegate must sign in by 10:45 a.m.

CONWAY — Six Conway residents put their recipes to the test in a chili cook-off on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Field Memorial Library.
More than 32 attendees sampled and voted for their favorite version of the comfort food. Jack Lochhead’s vegetarian chili took first place, Jennifer Coliskey’s sweet and spicy chili earned a spot in second, and Jeanne Thomas won third place with her family recipe.
The Friends of the Field Memorial Library plans to keep the tradition going next year, according to Chair Linda McDaniel.
