The Franklin County Hockey Association 10-U White team captured the Albany Rink Rats Tournament title on Feb 15 in Albany, N.Y. The team went 3-0 during round-robin play and earned a 6-2 victory in the championship match over the Valley Eagles. Joshua Currier registered a hat trick to help secure the victory.
After a scoreless first period, FCHAโs Gavin Demado scored the game’s opening goal and Currier netted a penalty shot to take a two-goal lead. Walker Kingsbury scored his first goal of the game to increase the lead to 3-0. Currier added his second goal of the game before the second period expired.
In the third period, Kingsbury netted his second goal of the game and Currier completed the hat-trick with assists coming from Braith Brothers and Eden Hubbard. Elliot Palasciano earned the win in goal for FCHA, notching the Player of the Game in the championship contest.
Cody Kingsbury, Phil Palasciano and Pat Connelly are the coaches for the FCHA 10U white team. Team members include Andrew Quintana, Charlie Barbato, Killian Connelly, Maximus Placinta, Rhea Robison and Weston Sibley. The FCHA 10-U White team also captured the Danbury Hat City Tournament in January.
The FCHA 10-U Green team also went undefeated in round robin action to advance to the championship game where it was victorious over the Chazy 10-U Orange team, 1-0.

Neither team could find the net in the first two periods. Landon Petley registered the game-winning goal with assists coming from Carson White and Mason Lovett in the third period. The FCHA special teams took over from there, killing penalty after penalty to thwart off Chazy and earn the victory. Sean Degen earned the shutout in goal for FCHA.
Corey Lovett, Sam Urkiel, Dave White, and Chad Baldwin are the coaches for FCHA 10-U Green. Team members include Aiden Baldwin, Connor Bergeron, Cody Castine, Rowen Hickey, EJ Morley, Brody Neipp, Colton Urkiel, Blake White, and Danielly Zraunig. Also representing FCHA at the Rink Rat Tournament where the 12U Green and White teams along with the 14U team.
Mount Institute Ski League
In the final Mount Institute Ski League race of the winter season, the Deerfield Academy girls placed first at Berkshire East Mountain Resort on Wednesday.
Athletes traversed a one-run giant slalom in wet conditions.
Deerfield Academy finished with 329 points while Northfield Mount Hermon placed second with 326 points. Deerfield Academy (B) was third (265) while Bement School placed fourth (217).
Deerfield Academy’s Rowan Skinner (44.38) and Cecelia Cramer (46.65) were first and second, respectively. Ellie Pinkham of Northfield Mount Hermon was third (45.83). Teammates Lydie Pinkham took fourth place (45.97). Reese Schaefer of the Bement School placed fifth (45.97).
Northfield Mount Hermon placed first (336) in the final race. Deerfield Academy placed second (289). Northfield Mount Hermon (B) was third overall (270). Eaglebrook School took fourth (238).
Sam Rotermund (42.53) of Northfield Mount Hermon topped the individual standings. Teammate Cody Vassar was second (43.36). Jackson Stram of Deerfield Academy was third (44.55). Northfield Mount Hermon’s Porter Beaule (45.32) and Oliver Newman (45.57) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
The final team standings after the seventh and final race of the Mount Institute Ski League for girls are as follows: Northfield Mount Hermon (50), Deerfield Academy (46), Bement School (39), Deerfield Academy (B) 37, Northfield Mount Hermon (B) 30, Williston (24), Deerfield Academy (C) 22, Eaglebrook School (17), Wilbraham and Monson (9).
Skinner topped the final individual standings with 422 points. Ellie Pinkham was second with 417, while Cramer placed third with 413. Northfield Mount Hermon’s Wylie Benedetti took fourth with 403 points. Lydie Pinkham took fifth (401).
The final standings for the boys were as follows: Northfield (50), Deerfield Academy (45), Northfield Mount Hermon (B) 38, Eaglebrook School (38), Williston (A) 30, Williston (B) 27, Bement School 21
Rotermund placed first in the final individual standings with 416 points. Vassar was second with 347. Stram ended up in third with 404 points. Beaule was fourth with 403. Sumner Finley placed fifth (326) for Northfield Mount Hermon.
Girls basketball
Franklin Tech 35, Old Colony RVT 27 โ The Eagles picked up a home win behind 16 points from Brayleigh Burgh on Wednesday. Abigail Dobias added seven points for the Eagles.
Burgh went 4-for-10 from the 3-point line and cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds. Madyson Lynde and Burgh both added three steals for the Eagles.
