Michael moved to Gill with his wife, Patricia, in 1971. In his younger days, he enjoyed apre's skiing, golf, the comradery of the Elks lodge in Greenfield, and local rotary and conservation committees. While Michael became an enthusiastic hockey parent and chauffeur of his two sons, his happiest moments were shared adventuring with Patricia. Michael will be remembered as a loving, devoted husband, supportive father, and a kind and gentle being with an understated sense of humor and a splendid demeanor. He will be dearly missed.
Michael, preceded in death by his wife Patrica Bristol Hisz, is survived by his two sons, Brian of Gill, MA and David of Concord, NH, beloved cousin Janice Gilmartin of Newington, CT; sister in law Marilyn Clesse (Rene) of Eden, NY; nieces, Janet Clesse Hager (George) of Portland, OR and Michelle Clesse (Jason) of Pittsburg, PA; and nephews, John Clesse of Norman, OK, and, Joseph Clesse (Danielle) of West Seneca, NY.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Michael's memory, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA at 10:00AM, with Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor, as the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the Gill-Montague Senior Center, PO Box 166 Turners Falls, MA 01376.
