Jan. 31: Sunderland Democratic Town Committee meeting

SUNDERLAND — The Sunderland Democratic Town Committee will meet on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Community Room at the Sunderland Public Library.

According to a statement from current committee Chair Susan Triolo, members will choose the next committee chair and “think together about the current moment in which we are living. What kind of world do we want to live in? How can we ensure that vision of the world for the coming generations?”

Feb. 1: Knights of Columbus hosting spaghetti meal

SOUTH DEERFIELD — The Knights of Columbus will host a spaghetti meal and raffle at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 29 Sugarloaf St., on Sunday, Feb. 1, at noon.

Along with a meal, attendees can enter a raffle for a $1,000 prize.

Adults must pay $14 and children under 16 eat for free. Proceeds will support the Knights of Columbus’ charitable causes, including its Coats for Kids program, the Springfield Rescue Mission and the Bethlehem House.

Feb. 8: ‘Who You Gonna Call?’

SOUTH DEERFIELD — The Engage: Deerfield citizens group will host “Who You Gonna Call?” on Sunday, Feb. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the former South Deerfield Congregational Church at 71 North Main St. The community conversation aims to peel back the curtain on the town’s operations.

At the talk, attendees can ask questions about the day-to-day work of town employees, accessory dwelling unit (ADU) regulations, sewer bill assessments, zoning and any other inquiries regarding the town’s operations. The Engage: Deerfield team will answer questions, provide resources or research answers to the questions, and publish them in the “Deerfield Currents” newsletter.

Donations are appreciated to support the community conversation series and the cost of refreshments. Doors open at 2:45 p.m.

New discussion group forms in Conway

CONWAY — A new discussion group, called “Joys and Concerns of Aging,” will meet for the first time on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the United Congregational Church of Conway at 44 Whately Road.

According to the online flyer, the group plans to meet on the second Tuesday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to noon to discuss the “issues of aging.” Conway resident Robin Yerkes, who has a license in social work, will lead the discussion, with Mass in Motion / Age-Friendly Conway sponsoring the group.

Anyone over 60 years old is welcome to join at no cost, but the club is limited to 12 members. Those who are interested in joining should call or text Yerkes at 413-575-7816 or email her at rbyerkes@gmail.com.
