The Tumbling Tigers gymnastics squad had an excellent all-around performance at the Let’s Make a Deal competition on the weekend of Jan. 9.
The Tigers got a first-place finish (8.85) on the balance beam from Madeline Nugent. Delilah Ainsworth took second on the bars (9.05). Shelby Senn was fifth on the vault (8.6).
Nugent added a third place (9.0) finish on the floor and a fourth-place finish in the All-Around. Ainsworth grabbed fifth (8.5) on the beam.
The Tigers host the Wild Wild West competition on Feb. 1 at the YMCA. The event is open to the public ($5). The Tigers have an open sneaker drive to help fund the program. They accept gently used sneakers which can be dropped off at the Welcome Center.
Boys basketball
Four Rivers 56, St. Michaels 29 โ The Otters had three players in double-figures in the home win on Jan. 22. Cooper Whitney and Kolin Broderick led the way with 13 points each. Whitney added seven steals while Broderick had six thefts.
Henry Schwerin added 11 points and five steals for Four Rivers.
Girls basketball
Frontier 26, Wilbraham 22 โ A big fourth quarter jumper by Avery Jackman helped the Frontier girls fifth and sixth grade Suburban team to a road win over the weekend. The jumper by Jackman sparked a big offensive run for Frontier.
Grace Barshefsky led Frontier with 11 points. Ellie Marchand and Laura Brown’s ball pressure led the defensive effort for Frontier (5-2).
Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley
Here are the scores from the week ending on Jan. 23. In Monday’s Mixed League, Missy Finn rolled a 100 in high single and a 292 in high triple. Chris LaFreniere scored a 151 in high single and a 372 in high triple.
In Tuesday’s Mixed League, Mindy Goodin and Nancy Purington both scored an 88 in high single. In high triple, Purington carded a 253. Paul Cohen and Steve St. Pierre rolled a 101 in high single while Paul Hollings scored a 275 in high triple.
In Wednesday’s mixed league, Cherie Semanie rolled a 101 in high single and a 271 in high triple. Erich Price then carded a 126 in high single and a 304 in high triple.
In Thursday’s Mixed League, Paula Bird scored a 102 in high single and a 275 in high triple. Jeff Brisson rolled a 131 in high single while Greg Dorman carded a 344 in high triple.
Greenfield Elks Pitch League
The Greenfield Elks Pitch League played their matches Wednesday, Jan. 21. Here are the leaders through week three. In first place is Doug Houle (11 points). In a four-way tie for second place is Jim Elwell, Tim Wondoloski, Erin Quintana and Bob Ferris with 10 points. There is a six-way tie for third place (nine points) between Brian Derry, Chris Kalinowski, Jeff Niepp, Mike Duclos, Neil Black and Mike Larabee.
