Lecture series on American Revolution coming to Historic Deerfield
DEERFIELD — For its free and virtual winter lecture series, Historic Deerfield is honoring the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
“This series will explore the American Revolution not just as a political conflict, but as a broad and complex global event that profoundly shaped the lives of everyone in the colonies. The war’s impact extended far beyond political fervor, crucially affecting Native nations seeking autonomy, free and enslaved Black people across the continent, and every sphere of social, cultural and economic life — from material culture and daily labor to political ideology,” Historic Deerfield’s website reads.
The lectures will “illuminate these often overlooked aspects” of the American Revolution by exploring the roles of disease at the Sunday, Jan. 25 lecture, Spain and the Native nations at the second lecture on Sunday, Feb. 22, and artwork at the final lecture on Sunday, March 29. All lectures will take place virtually via Zoom at 2 p.m.
