Dwight H. Scott

Ashfield, MA – Dwight H. Scott, 68, passed away on December 17, 2025 with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Greenfield on October 31, 1957 the son of Norman C. and Betty A. (Shaw) Scott. A life-long resident of Ashfield, he graduated from Sanderson Academy and Mohawk Trail Regional High School.

On May 5, 1979 he was married to the love of his life, Deborah Tatro. For more than 46 years they built a life together based on love, family and community.

He was a talented carpenter who built a reputation with a reliable, creative, honest, “work until the job gets done” approach to his craft. He was renown for his covered bridge construction and was proud of the recognition of all his work. He had an appreciation for old machinery and the type of wood working from bygone days and the challenges it presented.

He got the “sugaring” bug when he was young and over the years he and his family made thousands of gallons of maple syrup and candied treats. To this day their sugar bush is producing maple products that many look forward to enjoying.

He was a Boy Scout when he was young and later became a Scout Leader. He enjoyed teaching the Scouts how to be responsible, practical, resourceful, and to think outside the box.

His devoted family he leaves behind include his wife Deb, son Aaron (Laura) Scott, son Gavin (Jen) Scott, his cherished grandchildren Jackson, Jameson, Kristiana and Melody, his sister Cynthia Scott and many friends.

A celebration of Dwight’s life and many accomplishments will be held at a later date.
