Turners Falls , MA – Charles Fontanella, age 94, of Turners Falls, MA, passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2025.
Charles was born on April 28, 1931, in Stafford Springs, CT. to the late Mario and Egle Fontanella.
He was predeceased by his younger brother; Mario Fontanella, and grandson; Dylan Lapointe.
Charles was an amazing husband and leaves behind his loving wife Jean of 71 years. They married on January 16, 1954. They moved to Ashfield, MA where they owned the former Day’s Store from 1973 to 1985.
Charles was an Army veteran. He was a longtime member of the Ashfield Lions Club. He worked at Big Y supermarket and Northfield Mount Hermon School and he truly honored all the friendships he made along the way.
Charles leaves behind three children; Debra Lapointe, Michael & Ruth Fontanella and Dawn Nussbaum. He leaves behind his brother; Donald Fontanella, and sister; Janet and Jim Sebastian.
Charles was a very proud grandfather and also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter, all loved dearly.
Per Charles’ wishes, there will be no services.
