Turners Falls, MA – Carol Crofton, 82, of Turners Falls passed away on October 23, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in Montague, MA on October 31, 1942, she was the daughter of Adelore and Marjorie (Lynde) Petrin.
She was a graduate of Turners Falls High School, where she returned to work as an educator in Special Ed until her retirement.
She was a boy Mom through and through. Revelling in teaching her sons to throw a ball (any kind), then to watching them excel in sports. She was happiest when there was a sporting event on TV ( Bruins, Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox , College football) or in her younger years attending in person.
She enjoyed her weekly outings with her older sister Marilyn for lunch and spending time with her son Rick. She was thankful to have nearby family to assist her if needed.
Carol is survived by her son, Rick Crofton(Robyn), of Pittsfield; her sister Marilyn Pelis of Greenfield and grandsons Will Crofton and Sam Crofton. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her son Jay, too many years ago.
We want to thank all of the professionals that provided her care in the last 48 hours of her life, showing compassion and caring not only to her but her family as well. Thank you Lisa.
