Turners Falls, MA – Cecelia J. (Kortz) Lapean, 92, passed away Wednesday October 15, 2025, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. She was born in Montague October 25, 1932, the daughter of Albert and Victoria (Siciak) Kortz. Ceil was educated from Turners Falls School System and graduated from Turners Falls High School Class of 1951.
She was married to Robert Lapean for 60 years before his passing on February 10, 2015. Ceil was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church. Upon her graduation she was employed in the main office of the New England Box Company in Greenfield. After bringing up her two sons she went to work for Greenfield Area Ophthalmologist in Greenfield.
Among her survivors are her two sons; Barry and his partner Lorraine Dlugosz of Colrain and Kevin and his wife Nancy of Montague; her five grandchildren Timothy Lapean (Missy) of Turners Falls, Jameson Lapean (Kaitlyn) of Easthampton, Ben Lapean (Kate) of Chicago, Emily Dattilo (Dana) of Hadley and Jake Lapean (Taylor Beaudry) of Turners Falls, her four great grandchildren; Olivia and John Dattilo, and Remi and Ryder Lapean. She also leaves her niece, Linda Creek and her husband Don.
Besides her parents, sibling and her husband Ceil was predeceased by her daughter in-law Dianna (Beauregard) Lapean.
Ceil’s family would like to thank the staff of Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility and Baystate Franklin Medical Center for their exceptional care.
Ceil’s services and burial will be private.
