I am all for well-planned growth that uses available space and puts the least strain on infrastructure. With some thought and consideration Greenfield could plan to include natural landscaping and sustainable housing concepts to the Hope Street housing plan. A close look at infrastructure and methods to reduce demand on local resources is important to any new growth, and should take center seat to this process.
No one can argue that families, individuals and others need a place to live. We have seen the housing market including rentals simply become financially out of reach for too many. One thing I believe Greenfield has plenty of is parking lots and spaces. On the contrary making Greenfield more walkable is a valuable goal.
New housing means new faces, new neighbors, new ideas, and potential friends. Hope Street is an ideal location with easy access to the city and its many conveniences. It would be refreshing to build on a revived downtown, with an eye on preserving local culture and attractions. Certainly if we can allow Starbucks and Aldi we can welcome humans to our neighborhood.
I look forward to a Greenfield with vibrant places for social and public use, everyone housed , well fed on our local abundance, and ready to grow in a sustainable manner. Homes over parking lots
