Stratford, CT – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Deborah ‘Debi’ Ann Sazama, who left this world peacefully on September 24, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT.
Debi was born in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, where she spent her childhood and created many cherished memories. She was a proud graduate of Franklin County Technical School., where she pursued her passion for cooking and hospitality through the culinary arts program. The cooking skills she acquired there would help her obtain many jobs as a chef at restaurants throughout Fairfield County, CT. She also used her love of cooking to spread kindness to others by frequently sending them homemade meals and treats.
Debi shared 40 years with her devoted companion, Frank Memoli, who was by her side through life’s joys and challenges. In addition, Debi had a special affection for animals, especially her cherished dogs and cats throughout her life. She found great joy and peace in cooking, gardening, spending time in nature, and losing herself in a good book. These simple pleasures reflected her gentle soul and her appreciation for life’s quiet beauty.
In addition to Frank Memoli, she is survived by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Carol and David Recchion, niece Zoe Recchion, sisters-in-law, Belinda, Liz and Margaret and nieces Michaelyn Memoli and Annabella McDonough.
Debi was predeceased by her loving parents, Bernard and Phyllis Sazama, who instilled in her the values of compassion and love of nature and the outdoors.
Burial will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA.
