The Franklin County Crush U-10 squad swept a doubleheader on Sunday at Murphy Park. In game one, the Crush defeated Berkshire Force, 13-1. Dani Zraunig (three runs) and Tayanna N’Dissi (four RBI) both tripled for the Crush. Penelope Gioules added a double with three runs scored. Makenna Ward struck out seven in the circle.
Zraunig didn’t give up a hit with eight strikeouts in a 15-2 game two victory for the Crush. N’Dissi, Gioules, Grace Hickey, Claira Pompilli each had extra base hits for the Crush. Savannah Thomas added two hits.
Track & Field
Jumping against the best of the best, Maia Christensen of the Frontier Regional girls track & field team finished 10th overall in the high jump at the MIAA Meet of Champions at Merrimack College in North Andover on June 6.
The sophomore jumped five feet, two inches for the Redhawks. Teammate Louise Flagollet placed 12th (five feet). Frontier’s Luke Howard was 16th (4:21.01) in the mile and 20th (9:48.02) in the 2-mile. The run in the mile was a personal best. Stellina Moore of Mahar Regional jumped 10 feet in the pole vault, finishing seventh.
Mason Youmell of Greenfield was 18th (56.88) in the 400-hurdles. Nicholas LeBlanc of Athol tossed a personal best in the discus, placing eighth (162-03). Frontier Regional’s Julian Adams placed ninth in the javelin (164-02).
Mohawk Trail’s Morgan Raffa placed 20th (103-10) in the javelin.

Greenfield Tennis Association
On June 13, the GTA will sponsor an event of community doubles tennis. All proceeds will go towards the continuing maintenance of the nine public clay courts of Greenfield.
Men, women, juniors and seniors are welcome to play in the event. Participants enter as a single person; doubles partner will be selected randomly and will change throughout the morning with each round.
Arrive any time before 9 a.m. at Beacon Field courts for warm-up and registration. Team and court assignments will start at 9:15 a.m. and play will start by 9:30 a.m.. Pre-registration is unnecessary. The tournament will be completed by noon. Full participation is not required. Players can play a few rounds and not complete the tournament.
Entry fees are $10 for GTA members, $15 for non-members. Students enter for free. GTA memberships will be on sale at the time of registration. Call Larry Klein (413-824-8129) with questions.
