DEERFIELD — Massachusetts State Police recently arrested two Vermont men and one Connecticut man on Interstate 91 in Deerfield on drug trafficking charges after troopers found about 1.5 kilograms of cocaine and 120 grams of fentanyl in their vehicle.

According to the Massachusetts State Police’s “Weekly Summary of Police Activity” posted on Friday, after stopping the vehicle on Aug. 26 for a left lane violation, the troopers learned that the driver, 60-year-old Todd Peduzzi of Bristol, Vermont, and the two passengers, 20-year-old Carmello Graham of Bristol, Vermont, and 20-year-old Jayden Gregory of Enfield, Connecticut, all lacked valid driver’s licenses. In speaking with the men, the troopers came to suspect they were trafficking narcotics and an illegal firearm.

During a search of the vehicle, the troopers discovered about 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 120 grams of fentanyl and two loaded Glock handguns with high-capacity magazines. Of the two guns, police found that one was stolen and the other had a defaced serial number before arresting the three men for narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses.

According to State Police Trooper Luis Blanco, the three men were arraigned the following day and were each charged with trafficking in more than 200 grams of cocaine, trafficking in more than 100 grams and less than 200 grams of fentanyl, and conspiracy to violate drug law. Peduzzi, the driver, also faced charges for failure to drive in the right lane, an equipment violation and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Gregory and Graham both faced additional firearm charges, including possession of a firearm and ammunition without a firearms identification (FID) card, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony with high capacity and possession of a large-capacity feeding device. Gregory was also charged with failure to wear a seatbelt and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number. For the stolen Glock handgun, Graham was charged with receiving stolen property.

According to Blanco, the three men were unable to post bail and were transported to the Franklin County Jail and House of Correction in Greenfield.
