Buckland Historical Society open house set for Sunday

BUCKLAND — Attendees can peruse local artifacts and learn about the town’s history at the Buckland Historical Society’s open house on Sunday, Aug. 24.

From 1 to 4 p.m., the Historical Society Museum at 20 Upper St. and the Wilder Homestead at 129 Route 112 will be open for tours. Visitors can see historical photos, explore the restored 1780 English barn, a shoemaker’s shop and more.

Car show set for Sunday

SHELBURNE — Apex Orchards will host a classic car show on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m.

There will be live music by Derek D’Acoustic starting at 11:30 a.m., food from Steve’s Weiner Wagon and mini cider doughnuts. Stout Pigeon Coffee Co. and Element Brewing Co. will also be in attendance.

Summer reading awards ceremony set for Aug. 30

COLRAIN — Join the Griswold Memorial Library for a celebration of the end of summer, and the Summer Reading Program, at Pine Hill Orchards on Saturday, Aug. 30.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., children can enjoy crafts, music and storytelling with Davis Bates and a story walk featuring “Journey” by Aaron Becker along a trail around the orchard. There will also be prizes for children who return their completed summer reading logs to the library, and a raffle basket full of goods donated by local businesses for an adult to win.

Enjoy free trolley rides for Grandparents Day

SHELBURNE FALLS — Sunday, Sept. 7, is National Grandparents Day, and to celebrate, the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum will be offering free trolley rides to any grandparent who brings their grandchild to the museum.

The museum is open from 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. for visitors to explore various exhibits outlining the history of the local trolley operation in the early 1900s, look at retired train cars and take a ride on Trolley No. 10, which first operated in this location starting in 1896, traveling between Shelburne Falls and Colrain.
