Isaac Bingham was the first runner to cross the finish line during Thursday’s Northfield Summer Road Race, completing the 3.1-mile course in a time of 17 minutes, 40 seconds.

That time set a new course record.

Nathaniel Belmont took second (18:17), Kevin Santos placed third (19:18), Max Cordona came in fourth (19:48) while Jed Dioguardi took fifth (19:49). Marcy Cabanas was the sixth runner and first woman to cross the finish line (20:08). Thursday’s race saw 27 runners and seven walkers participate.

The Northfield Summer Road Race takes place every Thursday starting and finishing at 105 Main Street in Northfield. The cost is $5 per runner with $10 max per family. Local high school cross country team members run for free. Walkers are welcome and can choose a shorter distance. The race is a Northfield Recreation Commission event.

Maynard Road Race

The Don Maynard Memorial Road Race returns to Greenfield in September, with the race scheduled for Sept. 20.

The race is changing from a five miler to a 5K race this year, beginning at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area at 9:30 a.m. Online registration is available at RunSignup.com. Any questions or to volunteer call or text Chuck Adams at 413-522-6688.
