GREENFIELD — There were no injuries reported in a kitchen fire at Bostrom Farm on Colrain Road that occurred Saturday afternoon.
Owner Kyle Bostrom said that the farm store is currently closed and asked community members to be patient. He said that they will reopen as soon as possible, but have to navigate the insurance process and clean up the kitchen before they can reopen.
“That’s gonna be out of commission for a little bit,” Bostrom said of the kitchen.
He said the fire was accidental and believed to have been caused by something that got stuck on the stove.
Bostrom said it was a small fire, and the kitchen at 701 Colrain Road did not sustain any structural damage, but was “smoky and dirty” and would need to be thoroughly cleaned.
Michelle Samuels, a butcher at the farm, said that while the farm store would be closed to the public, she would still be selling beef, pork and produce at the Greenfield Farmers Market on Saturday as usual.
She said customers can support Bostrom during this time by buying gift cards at the farmers market or by ordering one via Bostrom’s Venmo, @Kyle-Bostrom, and that the timeline for smoke remediation and store reopening would be shared on the farm’s Instagram and Facebook as the farm figures out its next steps.
