The Greenfield girls softball team is heading back to the Western Mass. Class C finals for the fourth year in a row. 

Hosting fourth-seeded McCann Tech in the Class C semifinals on Saturday, MacKenzie Paulin went 4-4 with two doubles and two RBIs while Anna Bucala knocked three hits and drove in two which led the Green Wave to a 13-3 victory at Vets Field. 

The top-seeded Wave (14-6) will take on the winner of No. 2 Lenox and No. 3 Franklin Tech in the championship game on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Westfield State. 

Sophia Rotkiewicz singled and drove in two, Madi Lemay knocked two hits and drove in a run and Grace Laurie finished with a hit and an RBI in the win. 

Baseball

Pioneer 16, St. Mary’s 0 (5) — The Greenfield softball team isn’t the only local squad playing in its fourth-straight Western Mass. title game. 

The top-seeded Panthers took care of business against No. 5 St. Mary’s in the Class D semifinals in Northfield on Saturday, as Pioneer reached the title game for the fourth year in a row following a 16-0 victory in five innings. 

The unbeaten Panthers (20-0) face No. 3 Hopkins in the championship game on Tuesday at a time and location to be determined. Hopkins beat Ware, 7-4, in the semifinals. 

Pioneer’s Braeden Tsipenyuk recorded his 100th-career hit on Saturday, knocking a pair of hits and RBIs in the win. Jackson Campbell doubled in a run, Alex McClelland knocked three hits and drove in four runs, Ethan Quinn singled, tripled and drove in four, Ethan Mathe singled and drove in a run, Ben Werner cracked two hits and Evan Tsipenyuk hit safely for Pioneer. 

Jackson Glazier got the win, striking out five and allowing just one hit in 3 and 2/3 innings work. Werner pitched the final 1 1/3 inning, striking out one.
