The mayor of Greenfield needs to be tough and fair-minded and constantly build a way forward that shows balance and leadership. Mayor Roxann Wedegartner has shown that she can make the hard calls necessary to do this. She is smart, persistent, a fighter when she needs to be, and most importantly, strong enough to govern with the needs of all our citizens in mind.

That is not easy in Greenfield. We have more than our share of stubborn ideologues in this town, on both ends of the political spectrum. They talk the most, shout the loudest, and think their ideas and priorities are always right. They don’t compromise. But our Greenfield government can’t work that way.

Roxann knows that we need compromise to balance out the different priorities of our citizens. So she won’t blindly cut support from some departments to fund another because she knows that is not a real solution. She won’t promise we can fund everything because she knows the budget doesn’t allow that. And she won’t favor one special interest group’s priorities over others because she won’t pander.

What she will do is keep Greenfield moving forward by developing new housing and building our tax base. By forging strong relationships with our state government. By getting things done for people like the library and the Wilson’s development project. And by making all city services work the best they can without robbing from Peter to pay Paul.

Roxann will make sure all citizens are represented, because that is what leaders do. That is what the citizens of this great city deserve. And that is why I will be voting for Roxann Wedegartner for mayor on Nov. 7. I hope you will too.
