TURNERS FALLS — The Turners Falls High School Class of 1963 held its 60-year reunion at the French King Restaurant in Erving in September.
Twenty classmates attended along with 11 guests, according to Ed Gregory, a member of the class. George Bush, a former history teacher and sports coach, attended as the guest of honor.
“Classmates from Connecticut, Georgia, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Florida and Vermont made the trip to enjoy the afternoon and share not-so-long-lost memories,” Gregory recapped. “Everyone had a great time.”
TURNERS FALLS — Hillcrest and Sheffield elementary school families, volunteers, staff and public officials participated in the National Walk & Roll to School movement on Wednesday, Oct 4. Participants walked to each school from the Public Safety Complex and Elks Club to celebrate the benefits of walking and biking to school.
“The event was a good way to promote active commuting to school, teach children to cross streets at marked crossings and to always look left-right-left, and to give us a chance to look at the safety of our routes to and from school,” Montague Town Planner Maureen Pollock, who walked to the schools from the Elks Club, wrote in an email.
Participants then convened at the fields between the schools for some goodies and a performance by the Gill-Montague Regional School District’s Pep Band.
