The PVYBL Mickey Mantle postseason got underway on Monday, as Frontier opened the double-elimination tournament against Dalton.
Dalton held the Frontier bats to just five hits and one run in the sixth inning, with Dalton coming to South Deerfield and walking away with a 5-1 victory.
Ben Caron cracked three hits, Grayson Loos knocked an RBI double and Harry West hit safely for Frontier. West struck out two and scattered three hits in five innings work on the mound before Aidan Heffernan came on and struck out two while allowing one hit in the final two innings.
Frontier will face a to be determined opponent on Wednesday.
Dinner on the Bridge
Want to have dinner on the Iron Bridge this summer? The Mohawk Trail Athletic Department is giving you the opportunity to do that.
The Mohawk Trail Athletic Association is taking over the Dinner on the Bridge fundraiser from the Shelburne Falls Business Association, with the event taking place on Aug. 20 on the Iron Bridge. Seating begins at 4:30 p.m.
The cost is $100, with all proceeds going to support Mohawk Trail athletics. There will be a cash bar. The meal will be provided by Bash Catering and served by Mohawk Trail student athletes.
