GREENFIELD — Thayer Street Builders’ unbeaten season in the Greenfield Co-ed Adult Softball League remained alive on Friday, as it walked away with a 19-4 victory over Smitty’s Pub at Green River Park.

Thayer Street Builders improved to 12-0 on the season. 

Brady Markol singled, doubled, homered and brought in two runs, Kramer Patenaude singled, doubled, tripled and knocked in four runs, Kat Luippold had three hits including a double while Kelly Sadler doubled, singled and recorded three RBIs in the win. 

Dom Carme homered for Smitty’s. 

Basketball

DRIVE League

Lucas Isrow dropped 21 points while Will Barnes tossed in 19 points in Mahar’s 75-50 win over Brattleboro on Thursday in a boys varsity game in the DRIVE League. 

John Haskins led Brattleboro with 21 points.

Trevor Canon’s 17 points lifted Easthampton past Frontier, 73-71, in the second game on Thursday. Max Millette went off for 36 points and Caiden Manning added 12 points for the Redhawks. 

To close out the night Mike Chinappa scored 16 points and Alex Soto finished with 15 points in Smith Vocational’s 61-34 triumph over Turners Falls. Kainen Stevens led the Thunder with 10 points. 

Franklin Tech Summer League

Leah Potter scored 15 points, Hailey Ring tossed in nine points, Addison Harrington finished with five points, Fota N’Diaye and Kyler McClelland each had three points and Riley Thayer scored two points in Pioneer’s 37-8 victory over Athol on Thursday at the Franklin Tech Girls Summer Basketball League.

Anna Duquette and Olivia Horrigan each had four points for Athol.

The second game of the night saw Frontier pick up a 47-8 win over Hopkins behind 14 points from Hailey Hutkoski, six points from both Abby Schreiber and Olivia Machon, five points from both Harper Modesto and Madison McKimmie, four points from both Jazzy Hayes and Claire Kirkendall and two points each from Skyler Steele and Molly Gates. Sadie Cyr scored five and Maggie Potter tallied three points for the Golden Hawks.

The third game on Thursday saw Amber Bergeron go off for 35 points while Tayler Bergeron scored 10 points, Ever Kennedy tallied five points and Natalia Cody finished with two points in Greenfield’s 52-25 win over Mohawk Trail. Riley Giard had seven points, Irelyn Marcoux scored six points, Abi Dobias had five points, Valerie Bzomowski scored four points and Zephyr Jetzon tallied three points for the Warriors.

To close out the night Hannah Gilbert tossed in eight points, Kaitlin Trudeau and Lilianna Inman each had five points, Lea Chapman scored three points and Cordelia Guerin and Kyra Goodell each had two points in Franklin Tech’s 25-18 win over Mahar.

Hayden Comeau scored 10 points, Dakota Cleveland had five points, Taylor Paluk had two points and Alivia Patch made a free throw for the Sens.

Baseball

American Legion

Pittsfield 6, Greenfield Post 81 5 — Post 81 held a 5-0 lead after two but Pittsfield stormed back to tie the game at five in the sixth and knocked in the game-winner in the seventh to earn a 6-5 victory over visiting Greenfield on Friday. 

Jesse Dubreuil knocked an RBI single and an RBI double while Jason Quinn had two hits for Post 81. Malik Moore, Ethan Mauthe and William Ainsworth played well for Greenfield after being brought up from the Junior Legion team. 

Chicopee 2, Greenfield 1 (8) — Post 81’s Tyler Podolski had a no-hitter going into the sixth against Chicopee, but Chicopee got a run to tie the game 1-1 to force extra innings. 

Chicopee scored in the top of the eighth before John Marchefka got on with a single to open the bottom of the frame for Greenfield, but was stranded on base as Post 81 fell, 2-1, at Vets Field on Thursday. 

Sam Connors got a big strikeout late and Caleb Thomas hit safely while playing well at third base and short for Greenfield in the loss. 

“It was a tough one but we still have a sights on the postseason,” Post 81 manager Julian Diamond said. “Ultimately you need more than one run to win the game. We made a few errors and every one counted.”
