The third and final game of the GMLB AAA championship series between Pioneer Valley Tire and Denny’s Pantry was played at Lunt Park on Friday, as Pioneer Valley Tire won the first game of the series but Denny’s Pantry forced a game three with a win on Thursday.
In a back-and-forth game that went to extra innings, Pioneer Valley Tire lifted the championship trophy with a 16-11 victory in eight innings.
Jackson Baker cracked six hits and had a big game on the mound, Paul Budrawich knocked four hits and Riley Gray recorded three hits for Pioneer Valley Tire.
Ben Shivone, Parker Gerry, Quest Petersen and Ben Trombley each had a pair of hits for Denny’s.
Mantle
Wyatt Edes had three hits, one a double, and knocked in a run to lift Mohawk to a 6-1 win over Frontier on Friday in a Mantle contest in South Deerfield.
Carter Miller tallied a pair of hits, Grayson Bishop and Ty Griswold each had a hit and two RBIs while Urijah Jenness cracked a hit that brought in a run for Mohawk. Bishop struck out seven in the victory.
Chris Gallagher finished with two hits while Aidan Heffernan and Kaden James hit safely for Frontier. Harry West struck out eight in the loss.
GGSL final
Triton Automotive capped off an undefeated season in the Greenfield Girls Softball League’s Ponytail Division on Thursday, taking home the championship with a 15-4 win in the title game over Descavich Plumbing at Murphy Park.
Raine Wonsey and Jaelyn Boliski each homered, Lenyx White knocked a double and a triple while Bella Trinque cracked a pair of hits in the win. Lexi Hawkins struck out seven and Wonsey struck out six for Triton.
Ella Rotkiewicz doubled, Ameliya Galbraith and Haddie Connelley tallied singles and Charlie Bishop struck out six for Descavich.
CCG
The 18th Greenfield Senior Open at the Country Club of Greenfield took place on Friday, with Jim Patterson winning the championship with a gross score of 71.
Jim Varner shot the low net of 66.
William Ingham won the LACC Flight (72) while Phil Reilly and Scott Cote tied for first low net (72). In the Royal Liverpool Flight al Alminas had the low gross (72) while Pat Grogan carded the low net (66). Tom Smith had the low gross in the Augusta Flight (73) while Ernie Patnode carded the low net (65).
Franklin Tech Summer League
Whitney Campbell tossed in eight points, Madison McKimmie scored seven points, Claire Kirkendall had six points and Jazzy Hayes scored four points in Frontier’s 35-27 win over Franklin Tech on Thursday in the Franklin Tech Girls Summer League.
Kyra Goodell scored 10 points, Lilianna Inman tallied eight points and Lea Chapman finished with three points for the Eagles.
Game two on Thursday saw Athol knock off Mohawk Trail, 36-15, behind 10 points from Anna Duquette, seven points from Sammy Mailloux, six points from Olivia Horrigan and four points from both Abby Lutz and Ava Adams. Natalie Lanoue finished with seven points while Irelyn Marcoux recorded four points for the Warriors.
Hayden Comeau put up 11 points, Alivia Patch scored four points and Haylee Paluk finished with three points in Mahar’s 21-8 win over Hopkins in the third game of the night on Thursday. Madison Zononi and Juliana Eichenlaub each had three points in the loss for the Golden Hawks.
The final game on Thursday saw Leah Potter drop 19 points, Hailey Ring and Addi son Harrington score nine points and Kyler McClelland and Fota N’Diaye each tally six points as Pioneer knocked off Greenfield, 49-25. Amber Bergeron scored 23 points and Tayler Bergeron had two points for the Green Wave.
DRIVE League
Jon Breor scored 19 points and Caleb Mur ray chipped in 15 points in Greenfield’s 56-42 victory over Hampshire on Thursday in a boys varsity contest in the DRIVE League at Greenfield High School.
Vincent Carr led the Raiders with 13 points.
Also on Thursday Ben Kearney finished with 16 points and Angel Castillo scored 10 points in Athol’s 47-39 win over Mahar. Morgan Softic scored 11 points for the Sens.
In the final game of the night Garrett Dredge scored 15 points and Max Millette tossed in 14 points in Frontier’s 64-39 win over Smith Vocational. Ben Chinappa led the Vikings with 16 points.
Montague co-ed
Yohenny Pimental (five hits), Matt Gibson (four hits), Josh Lashway (four hits) and Joe Guidaboni (three hits) led AGH Disposal and Recycling to a 16-9 win over Manny’s on Thursday in a Montague co-ed adult softball game.
Seth Symmes homered while Codie Kratt and Angie Renaud each had two hits in the loss.
