5:10 p.m. — Caller on West Main Street reports she watched someone put a gray trunk in the woods, requested officers look into it. Upon speaking with three neighbors, officer advises the trunk is trash and was discarded quite some time ago.
9:20 a.m. — Caller on Turners Falls Road reports a tree on wires and partially in the road. Transformer was on fire. Department of Public Works requested signs and cones to warn oncoming traffic to slow down. Eversource was also notified. Road was barricaded and a detail officer responded.
4:39 p.m. — Caller from Connecticut River Liquors on Avenue A reports a shoplifting incident. Clerk chased the involved individual to retrieve the stolen property. Individual was advised not to return to the store.
4:04 p.m. — Caller on Fourth Street reports suspected drug activity involving a white car that returns at 4 p.m. every day.
9:42 p.m. — Caller on Millers Falls Road reports a fallen tree. Department of Public Works requested.
11:10 a.m. — Employee at Family Dollar on Avenue A reports a male party left the store with several items and did not pay for them all. Suspect located near the bike path. Suspected items stolen from the store were DVDs. Employee did not wish to file charges, was advised of options.
4:22 p.m. — A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Routes 47 and 63 resulted in the arrest of William M. Taravella, 23, of Hadley, on charges of OUI-liquor over 0.08%, a marked lanes violation and failure to stop.
5:30 a.m. — Caller on Fourth Street requests her child’s father, who is intoxicated and does not live there, be removed from the property. After difficulty locating the reporting party, the situation was mediated.
3:43 p.m. — The Department of Children and Families reports a runaway juvenile, last seen riding a bike near Cumberland Farms. Officers advised.
1:53 p.m. — Caller on Highland Circle reports his two older siblings were engaged in a physical fight and one of them had a knife and threatened the other one with it. Officer and mental health clinician responded.
4:35 p.m. — Caller on L Street reports their neighbor was burning trash and left it in an open pit, and their houses are really close together. Officers advised.
8:59 a.m. — Caller on Marshall Street reports one of the tires on her husband’s truck was slashed overnight.
10:44 a.m. — Caller on Main Street states someone was trying to scam her by saying she won a $100,000 grant.
6:28 p.m. — Caller on Fifth Street reports that after she asked a group of kids to stop playing in the road, a woman yelled and cussed at her, then pushed the friend she was with.
4:47 p.m. — Caller on Plains Road states she was walking with her dog and it ran off after seeing some deer. Dog is a gray pit bull mix, with tags and a microchip. Message left for the animal control officer.
8:03 a.m. — Caller from Poplar Street reports that in the past two days, there have been two women and four large dogs that are not on leashes that go down the street to the bike path.
12:31 p.m. — Vehicle sped through a construction zone on East Main Street, nearly striking a worker. Caller believed the vehicle headed south on Route 63. Unable to locate.
12:52 p.m. — Caller on Montague City Road reports the tent he called about the other day is still set up along the riverbed behind his neighbor’s property. FirstLight Hydro Generating Co. contacted as the tent is on company property.
2:03 p.m. — Caller alongside the Turners Falls Municipal Airport fence on Millers Falls Road reports a deer with a head injury is acting erratically.
10:24 a.m. — Suspicious vehicle stopped on East Mineral Road. Driver was holding a larger item out the driver’s side window. Upon further investigation, the individual was found to be holding a bucket of shiners. Driver was going fishing at the end of East Mineral Road, and did not have a level or secure area to hold the bucket inside the vehicle without spilling the water the shiners were in. No police action needed.
