MONTAGUE — A woman is expected to be arraigned in Greenfield District Court on Tuesday after allegedly stabbing an 82-year-old Montague City Road resident on Saturday, according to Police Chief Christopher Williams.
Williams said emergency personnel responded to a Montague City Road residence after receiving reports of assault and battery with a deadly weapon at 1:10 p.m. Responders found that the victim had been stabbed once in the abdomen, as well as once in the hand as a “defensive wound,” he said. According to Williams, the victim was transported by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with injuries of unknown severity.
The alleged assailant, who Williams said immediately turned herself in at the Montague Police Station following the incident, was arrested and held on $25,000 bail.
Responding agencies included the Montague Police Department, Turners Falls Fire Department and American Medical Response (AMR).
