As a neighbor living near by the traffic circle that joins Routes 91 and 2, I am against the location of the proposed Aldi store in the midst of popular local restaurants, Big Y, Home Depot, Staples, Bootleggers and threatening three other supermarkets we already have in Greenfield.
I depend on the traffic circle to point me in every direction I need to go. I can only imagine the traffic logjams that could arise with a new big box store in that area and ask the Planning Board to insist on a traffic impact assessment that Aldi’s would make on the flow of traffic around the circle and in and out of the proposed site between Friendly’s and MacDonalds. It just doesn’t make sense on top of the many infringements on the environment, no sustainable commitment to local agriculture and part-time hiring policies.
We don’t need an Aldi’s here. It would be a step down for Greenfield to allow it. It’s a no deal for us.
