I found it extremely disturbing that the paper does not seem to edit false letters and publish them as opinion. In the Aug. 29 Readers Write section, a woman was going on a rant about the need to stop the sale of automatic weapons to protect society from the shooting carnage that has plagued America. Although I agree that killings in America are a true problem the big problem is that an uninformed reader would think automatic weapons are actually for sale. They are not and have not been since 1985. Also an automatic weapon refers to machine gun and the ability to own one is barely available. An AR-15 is not an automatic weapon any more than a shotgun. In the future, I would expect that some effort to publish false information be adhered to. We have enough media corruption as it is.
