BUCKLAND — The Buckland Recreation Area on Ashfield Road (Route 112) will be closed starting Sept. 1. The closure is expected to last through June 30, 2023.
The park is closing to accommodate the construction of a public swimming pool. The closure includes the playground, basketball court, ball field, pavilion and walking trails. Fences will soon be built, with locked gates.
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Fraternal Order of Eagles at 52 State St. will host its annual chicken barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 3. The fundraiser will start at noon and will continue until supplies are gone.
The meal costs $16 per person. The price includes a half chicken, a baked potato, coleslaw, corn and a roll.
