BUCKLAND — The sixth annual “Summer Day on the Buckland Common” event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.
Festivities will take place on the historic Buckland Common, located at the corner of Upper and Cross streets. Admission and parking are free, and there will be activities for all ages on the common as well as at several other locations along Upper Street.
“We want to provide a free, fun and community-engaging event that is free for kids and families who are struggling,” organizer Laurie Benoit said.
“Summer Day on the Buckland Common” will include games, including a scavenger hunt with prizes for the winners; works by local artisans and craftspeople; music by local musicians and special guests; and displays by local businesses. Festivalgoers can enjoy food, music and dancing, farm animals, spinning and weaving demonstrations, a quilt display and more. There will also be a self-guided tour of the cemetery for people to learn about local history dating back to the 1700s.
The event, which hasn’t been held since 2019, is sponsored by multiple community nonprofits including the Mary Lyon Church, the Buckland Public Hall, the Buckland Historical Society, the Buckland Public Library, the Buckland Union Cemetery and the Friends of Robert Strong Woodward.
“This event highlights the sweetness of the village,” Benoit said.
