Members of Greening Greenfield want to thank the Fortin family for the creation of the Fortin Family Prize, which is awarded each year. At the Independence Day celebration at Beacon Field last Friday, the staff at the Greenfield Recreation Department and the Fortin family surprised the members of Greening Greenfield with that prize and plaque, recognizing our work improving the environment and the beauty of the city for many years. Members of Greening Greenfield were present to accept the award and the kind and generous statements made by Christy Moore, director of the Recreation Department. She noted that it is important to have allies in doing the planning and implementation of so many town improvement projects such as the Energy Park plantings, and the splash pad at Hillside Park, and so many more.
We would also like to celebrate all the great work that Christy Moore and her two other staff members have been able to accomplish, including the long and careful process for planning and implementing a Skate Park for the city as well as launching the annual Winter Carnival, summer programming at Hillside Park, and many other wonderful activities. We honor this hard working team that over the years has carried out great ideas for all ages; from the Winter Carnival, to swimming pool programs and events, youth and adult sports and programs, as well as summer camp.
We would like to express our thanks to the Fortin family for their generosity and commitment to Greenfield. We are proud to have been part of implementing the great ideas fostered by the staff of the Greenfield Recreation Department!
