A six-run bottom of the third inning enabled Belchertown Post 239 to rally past Greenfield Post 81, 7-4, in an American Legion Senior Division baseball game on Sunday in Belchertown.

Belchertown (7-0) trailed 3-0 into the third, when it used five consecutive hits against Greenfield starter David Carey to get the offense in motion. Ryan Zawistowski’s two-run double in the frame was the big blow for the hosts.

Greenfield had jumped out to a quick lead, scoring twice in the top of the first. Tyler Dubreuil singled and Carey walked. Ben Martino’s sacrifice fly plated Dubreuil, and MJ Paulin’s RBI single brought around Carey to make it 2-0.

The lead grew to 3-0 in the second when Cam Lococo singled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Dubreuil.

Jason Quinn added an RBI single in the fifth inning for Post 81, but the visitors couldn’t get any closer.

Carey struck out four in 3 2/3 innings before TJ Thibeault finished out of the bullpen with 2 1/3 solid innings of relief.

“He gave us a chance to get back into the game,” Post 81 coach Kevin Luippold said of Thibeault.

Jordan Talbot snagged the win for Belchertown, as Post 239 remained atop the Senior Division and undefeated.

Both teams are right back in action Monday. Belchertown hosts Aldenville while Greenfield (4-2) welcomes Wilbraham.
