On Tuesday, May 24, Charlemont residents get to vote on an override measure to fund a portion of the school budget. The voting takes place from noon to 7 p.m. Town Meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Here’s why we should vote for it:

The all new six-person Hawlemont School Committee and the school administration worked out this budget. They made cuts. They believe that the proposed budget provides the school with what it needs to serve its students.

If the override passes, the school budget will be discussed at Town Meeting. At that point, it can either be passed, modified or rejected. Without the passage of the override, that process will not take place. Let’s cast our ballots for the override. Then we can meet, listen to the budget presentation and make our decision together.
