I was very disillusioned by the recent announcement (April 20 in the Greenfield Recorder) that the Biden administration is planning to bail out nuclear power plants that are “financially distressed.” For years, I worked to shut down Vermont Yankee and it is hard now to see the Biden administration advocate putting money in the hands of a failing industry that is neither safe nor healthy for the planet (have they forgotten there is no safe way to dispose of the waste?) This money would be so much better spent to underwrite the up and coming industries of solar and wind (which are truly safe and will help to make for a healthy planet). Please contact your senators and let them know that this bailout is not good for the planet!
