It took a late rally for the Greenfield baseball team to come away with an independent win over rival Turners on Monday night at Vets Field. 

The Green Wave trailed 8-2 going into the fifth inning but rallied to score seven runs in the frame to take a 9-8 lead. Greenfield added another run in the bottom of the sixth to go up 10-8, a run it needed as the Thunder scored one in the top of the seventh. It was the lone run Turners could manage in the final frame, with the Green Wave coming away with a wild 10-9 win. 

MJ Paulin had four RBIs for Greenfield (5-1) while David Carey came on to close out the final two innings on the mound.

Levin Prondecki had three hits and a pair of RBIs for the Thunder (4-2) while Alex Quezada tallied a pair of hits in the loss. 

Baseball

Franklin Tech 9, Palmer 5 — The Eagles put four runs on the board in the first to come away with an independent win over the Panthers in Palmer on Monday. 

Kyle Begos got the win on the mound, tossing the first three innings. Jake Whitney, Mason Lehtomaki and Alex Sulda pitched in relief. 

Whitney went 3-for-4 at the plate while Cayden Lehtomaki smashed a triple.

Chris Ryan went 2-for-3 with a sac fly RBI in the win for Franklin Tech (5-1). 

Softball

Greenfield 13, Easthampton 1 (5) — MacKenzie Paulin tossed all five innings for the Green Wave, striking out 12 and surrendering a mere two hits as Greenfield came away with an independent win in five innings over the visiting Eagles on Monday. 

Ainslee Flynn went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the Green Wave (4-2).

Kelsey Richardson knocked a single and a double and Rachel Dodge had a single, a double and an RBI in the victory.

Girls tennis

Mohawk Trail 4, St. Mary’s 1 — The Warriors won all three singles matches to come away with a win over the Saints on Monday in Westfield. 

Avery Dupree earned a 7-5, 6-4 win in No. 1 singles, Paige King came away with a 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) win in No. 2 singles an Palmer King won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles for Mohawk Trail. 

Lizzie Lynch and Conner Herzig earned a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 triumph in No. 1 doubles while Dakota Chasse and Nikki Garofalo fell in No. 2 singles for the Warriors.
