It took two weekends and several rain delays, but the Icebreaker Weekend finally concluded last Saturday at Thompson (Conn.) Speedway Motorsports Park.

In the end it was a familiar last name that took home the $10,000 prize for winning the Outlaw Modified Open 125-lapper. Mike Christopher Jr. used a fast pit stop to come out with the lead and spoil the party for Jon McKennedy, who had led most of the race. Christopher, nephew of the late legend Ted Christopher, pulled away to score the win and the money. McKennedy had to settle for second. Eric Goodale, Anthony Nocella and Bobby Santos III rounded out the top five.

The next event on Thompson’s oval track will be June 15.
