BUCKLAND — Students and alumni of Mohawk Trail Regional School have until April 1 to apply for a Carl H. Nilman Scholarship to help offset the costs of attending college or graduate school.
The late Carl H. Nilman was a Buckland resident who instructed that the income earned from the trust fund he established be used to award scholarships for post-secondary education or training, according to a press release from Marion Scott, secretary of the Carl H. Nilman Scholarship Fund.
Students of any age who are graduates of Mohawk Trail Regional School, and were living in either Ashfield, Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Hawley, Heath, Plainfield, Rowe or Shelburne at the time of their graduation are encouraged to apply.

BUCKLAND — The town is seeking input on the future use of 50 Conway St., the site of the former Highway Garage, and will hold a public forum on Thursday, March 24, to hear residents’ thoughts.

ASHFIELD — The First Congregational Church of Ashfield will welcome Kathy Bullock as a guest musician on Sunday, March 27, at 10 a.m. during the church’s weekly worship service.
The service is open to the public, though attendees are required to wear masks.
According to a press release from Choir Director Margery Heins, the church choir and visiting choral students from Bennington College will work in partnership with Bullock. She will play organ, accompany anthems and lead congregational singing.
Bullock is a professor emerita of Berea College in Kentucky and a visiting professor at Bennington College in Vermont, according to the release. Bullock researches, teaches, sings and performs on keyboard, and gives workshops across the U.S. and internationally, with her gospel music being her specialty.
