Thank you to the intrepid protesters on the Greenfield Common on Valentine’s Day in the bitter cold.

Their messages: Love to Afghanistan; Biden: Stop starving Afghan children; win without famine/ unfreeze Afghan assets; when the power of love overcomes the love of power.

The $7 billion of frozen assets belong to the Afghan people. Americans need to understand that there actually is food in Afghanistan but the people have no money to buy the food. Few people have bank accounts. A massive famine is on the doorstep of 37.3 million people. And our government needs to release the full amount back to Afghanistan.

There is no connection to the “families of the 9/11 attack” in 2001. Where did this come from? A bow to the Republicans? Billions of dollars have been paid out to those grieving families by our government over the past 20 years. Today’s money, was frozen because our government doesn’t want the money “to go to the Taliban.” That money needs to go to feed the children and grown-ups in Afghanistan. However and whatever it takes, FEED THE CHILDREN.

Please call our Senators Markey and Warren. Please call U.S. Reps. Jim McGovern and Richie Neal.

TELL THEM TO RELEASE THE MONEY NOW!! FEED THE AFGHAN PEOPLE. REPARATIONS FOR 20 YEARS OF WAR. LIFT THE SANCTIONS.

Thank you to Western Mass CodePink Women for Peace and Mass Peace Action for their public service.
