LEYDEN — The Board of Health has fully distributed the town’s allotment of 90 over-the-counter rapid antigen tests, according to Board of Health Chair Beth Kuzdeba.
A total of 2.1 million kits were distributed to 102 municipalities across Massachusetts with the highest percentage of families below the poverty level. Each kit contains two tests.
Kuzdeba explained that the Board of Health called individuals in town who were most likely to be eligible to receive a test kit, with those facing financial challenges or who are homebound, or who otherwise struggle to find transportation to a COVID-19 testing site, among those who were prioritized. All tests were distributed by Dec. 22.
“We got them out as quickly as we could,” she said. “We definitely do not have enough testing going on, and that needs to be increased.”
Kuzdeba encourages residents who have not already done so to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Although there are no more rapid antigen tests available to Leyden residents, those who have questions may contact Kuzdeba at 413-774-2820.
