St. Patrick’s Church taking orders for annual Pork Roast supper

NORTHFIELD – St. Patrick’s Pork Roast Supper, the church’s biggest fundraiser of the year, will return Oct. 16 for take-out orders.

The traditional pork roast dinner will be held Oct. 16 with pick up from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church, 80 Main Street in Northfield. All proceeds will go back to the church.

Orders cost $12 per meal and must be placed by Tuesday Oct. 12, by calling 413-648-5313. Reservations are strongly suggested because they are only making 100 meals.

Organizer Tonia King said, a radio food journalist who produces two syndicated food shows, one of which airs on local station WHAI-FM, is coordinating this years meal.

“The stuffed pork loin will be cooked using local Pine Hill cider,” King said. “The roasted root vegetables will be cooked using our own herb mix and the applesauce and desserts are all homemade by members of the church.”

This year’s full “grab ‘n go” meals will include the stuffed pork loin, roasted root vegetables, French style green beans, homemade applesauce, a roll, and dessert.

The annual supper has traditionally been organized by Northfield resident Andrea Dale who prepared her grandmother’s traditional pork roast recipe, but she has recently moved out of town. King said she has “been doing small private dinner parties for years” with another local woman, and the two are partnering to put a “different spin on this year’s meal.”
