SUNDERLAND — Following a rise in COVID-19 cases, the Board of Health has issued a town-wide mask mandate for all public buildings.
A notice on the town’s website states masks must be worn in “all public indoor spaces and all private indoor spaces that are open to the public.”
Sunderland now joins Conway as the two southernmost Franklin County towns with town-wide mask mandates. Whately currently requires masks to be worn in town buildings, while Deerfield has held off on mandating masks anywhere in town, as long as COVID-19 cases remain low.
Other towns in Franklin County that have issued a similar mandate include Buckland, Leyden, Charlemont, Gill, Rowe, Shelburne and Greenfield.
Requests for comment from the Sunderland Board of Health were not returned.
