Rosco Palmer gave the Mohawk Trail boys soccer defense trouble on Thursday, leading the way with two goals and two assists as Smith Vocational defeated the Warriors, 8-0, in a Tri-County League game in Buckland. 

Jonathan Peters and Nikola Ndreu added two goals apiece for the Vikings while Anthony Mejia and Juan Jose Adams Caston each tallied one goal. 

Logan Brothers had seven saves for Mohawk Trail while Connor Herzig added another two saves. 

“It was a great game, it was good to get back out against teams we’ve seen in the past,” Warrior coach Nick Brown said. “Every time we see them they get better. Both teams played hard and we love to see that.”

Boys soccer

Mahar 7, Mt. Everett 2 — Dominic Whitman opened the scoring for the Senators, setting up an offensive explosion as Mahar beat the Eagles 7-2 in a Moriarty contest in Orange on Thursday. 

Whitman, Liam O’Donnell and Cole Johnson each had a pair of goals while Lucas Boucher found the back of the net in the victory for the Senators. Johnson and Boucher each had an assist and Gavin Sullivan came up with five saves in goal. 

Girls soccer

Pope Francis 4, Greenfield 0 — Isabella Meadows recorded a hat trick as the Cardinals pulled away with a 4-0 win over the Green Wave in Springfield on Thursday. 

Pope Francis scored three of its goals in the second half. 

Makayla Valente made 31 saves in an impressive performance in goal for Greenfield. 

Smith Academy 7, Franklin Tech 0 — Maddie Fagan scored a pair of goals to lead the Falcons to a 7-0 win over the Eagles on Thursday in Hatfield. 

Megan Bell and Keene Jeffer each added a pair of goals and assists in the win for Smith Academy while Emma Moynihan and Skylar Bygmon also found the back of the net. 

Franklin Tech goalie Emily Merritt made 15 saves in goal while Skylar Alamed, Anne Kolodziej and Kylee Gamache all played well in the loss.  

Field hockey

Greenfield 1, Minnechaug 0 — Tied 0-0 with 27 seconds left in the third quarter, Brielle Widelo came to the rescue for the Green Wave. 

Widelo scored on a corner, assisted by Maddy Kuchieski, that proved to be the game-winner as Greenfield earned a 1-0 Suburban League win over the Falcons. 

Ainslee Flynn made four saves in the victory for the Green Wave. 

Westfield 8, Turners Falls 1 — Norah Bargalti led the way for the Bombers with two goals in an 8-1 win over the Thunder on Thursday in Turners. 

Brooke Thayer had Turners’ lone goal off an assist from Hannah Marchefka. 

Meghan Bowen, Annie Adams, Lilly Toglier, Clare Griffith, Dayanara Morales and Gabi Ritter each had a goal for Westfield. 

Smith Academy 3, Mahar 0 — Crista Kemp scored twice as the Falcons pulled out a 3-0 Valley League win in Orange on Thursday.

Charlotte Cavanaugh also tallied for Smith Academy, which led 2-0 halftime.

Bella Bisceglia made 20 saves in net to power the Senators.

“We did a great job spreading the field, just couldn’t keep the ball down the other end,” said Mahar coach Laurie Saisa. “This was our best game of the year so far, I thought.”

 Golf

Turners 19, Mohawk Trail 5 — Joey Mosca was the mat ch medalist with a 38, scoring four points to help lead the Thunder to a 19-5 win over the Warriors on Thursday at Thomas Memorial. 

Reese Ewell (53) and Braeden Talbot (55) both scored five points for Turners while Jackson Day (51) and Grady Deery  (53) both scored three points in the win. 

Logan Moore (57) earned three points for Mohawk Trai in the loss while Pineas Tuttman (54) and Gage Patenaude (59) each scored a point. 

Hampshire 14.5, Frontier 9.5 — Ryan Cetto shot a team-low 46 for the Redhawks but it was the Raiders who earned a 14.5-9.5 triumph over the Redhawks on Thursday at Beaver Brook. 

Kevin Baumann recorded a 47 in the loss while Alex Gochinski (51), Cam Skiffington (51) Shane Prusak (56) and Robert Fuqua (59) rounded out the Frontier lineup. 

Southwick 155, Greenfield 215 — Matthew Garrity carded a match low 36 as the Rams came away with a 155-215 win over the Green Wave in stoke play format on Thursday. 

Dylan Archer shot a 44, Johnny Marchefka had a 52, Hugh Cyhowski recorded a 59 and Matt Lavoine had a 60 to comprise the Greenfield scoring.
