NORTHFIELD — With school back in session, Dickinson Memorial Library is offering Kids’ Fridays from 2 to 3 p.m.
Starting Sept. 10, the library will screen movies, hold LEGO activities and offer book groups, crafts and “Reading with Rio” each Friday. Masks will be required for attendees.
Even if children don’t want to participate in the group activities, Library Director Misha Storm said all children are welcome to stop by and “find a book and a cozy corner of the library.”
■Sept. 10 — Children must sign up in advance to read with Rio, a Golden Retriever, for 15 minutes.
■Sept. 17 — The book groups for readers in fourth, fifth and sixth grades will choose which books to read from the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award nominees over the next six months.
■Sept. 24 — The library will show the movie “The Secret World of Arrietty,” which is based on the book series “The Borrowers,” upstairs in the Children’s Room.
BERNARDSTON — Ed the Wizard’s “Magic for Seniors” will be held at the Bernardston Senior Center on Monday, Sept. 13, at 4:30 p.m.
This program, which will include everything from mind reading to coin and card tricks, is open to family members of all ages.
“Magic for Seniors” is supported in part by a grant from the Bernardston Cultural Council.
NORTHFIELD — St. Patrick’s Church is taking orders for its upcoming to-go lasagna dinner on Saturday, Sept. 18. Pick-up will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.
Meals include a serving of meat or vegetable lasagna, salad, a roll and dessert. Orders must be called in to 413-648-5313 by Tuesday, Sept. 14.
WARWICK — Families can now register for the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Outdoor Program for children between 2 and 5 years old from all member towns of the Pioneer Valley Regional School District.
The free group will be held on Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. starting Sept. 15 at the former Warwick Community School campus. The program, which is sponsored by the Department of Early Education and Care, allows children to participate in outdoor education and play, mixed with STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and literacy activities.
The program was not held for the past year and a half amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to lasting public health safety precautions, families must pre-register, both to be sure the group size is not too large and to be able to contact families in the event of a positive COVID-19 case in the community. A parent or guardian must attend with their children, and families will be spaced at least 6 feet apart during the programs.
A registration form can be found at bit.ly/3tiKUsM. Families may also contact Program Coordinator Deb Wood at woodd@pvrsdk12.org.
