Moveable bee hotel installed on school campus

WARWICK — The former Warwick Community School campus will be seeing some new visitors with the recent installation of a bee hotel.

The bee hotel was installed by Clare Green of Warwick and Tom Rich of Phillipston, who made it from recycled and repurposed materials. Green said she subsidized the project and Rich donated his labor. Nearby plants and a “Bee Hotel” sign will be added to the existing structure.

According to Green, the bee hotel helps the native bee population, offering small cavities in which the bees can lay their eggs.

The former school campus will be used for an outdoor, environment-based summer program, and attending students and volunteers will be able to observe the bee hotel in use.
