Town offices closed temporarily

LEYDEN — The Town Office building at 7 Brattleboro Road is currently closed to the public as a COVID-19 safety measure, according to a notice on the town website. The Selectboard plans to revisit whether to reopen the offices in early January.

Municipal Assistant Michelle Giarusso will work remotely and can be reached by email at selectboard@townofleyden.com. The website states that voicemails will be checked several times per day remotely.

Tax bills can be left in the black mailbox outside of the Town Office building.

Warwick seeks donations for pavilion

WARWICK — Donations of money, services and materials are being sought for a 20-by-40-foot outdoor pavilion at the former Warwick Community School that will be used for instruction, musical and theater performances, and community programs.

The pavilion will be built using volunteer labor, with architectural services already donated, according to the Warwick Education Committee. The goal is to build the pavilion within a year.

The committee is seeking about $15,000 for materials and services. Checks may be made out to “Town of Warwick — Pavilion” and mailed to “Town of Warwick, Pavilion Project, 41 Winchester Road, Warwick, MA 01378.”

Cookie contest voting begins

BERNARDSTON — Online voting is now open at bit.ly/34BAOYI for the Senior Center’s first Cookie Decorating Contest. Participants were able to pick up a “Cookie Kit” at the Senior Center and use the supplies to get creative in the kitchen.

Voters can visit the website and click on the cookies that they think best fit each category. The categories are most creative, funniest, most festive and most “liked.” Voters can also write in their favorite cookie at the end.

‘Pop-up’ food pantry planned for Dec. 30

BERNARDSTON — The Senior Center at 20 Church St. will hold another “pop-up” food pantry on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 4:30 p.m.

Call 413-648-5413 to sign up. Delivery is available for Bernardston residents if needed, according to the Senior Center’s Facebook page.

Those who would like to donate food to the pantry may call 413-648-5413 to make arrangements, or drop it off on the bench in the Senior Center parking lot.

Drive-thru meals surpass 4,000

BERNARDSTON — The Senior Center at 20 Church St. has served more than 4,000 drive-thru meals for seniors, according to the center’s Facebook page. The drive-thru meal pick-up program operates Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Senior Center parking lot.

To sign up, seniors can call 413-834-7200 by 9 a.m. the day before they plan to pick up their food. They may also order ahead for multiple days at once. A donation of $3 is appreciated, and free delivery is also available to those who need it.
