Town clerk offers voter information

HAWLEY — Town Clerk Pamela Shrimpton advises residents that she expects to receive ballots from the state Elections Division for the Nov. 3 presidential election on or around Oct. 5, after which she will start mailing ballots to residents who have already requested to vote by mail.

According to a notice from Shrimpton, the ballots can be mailed back, postage paid, or dropped in the new “Ballots Only” dropbox on the left side of Town Hall.

“Please be assured that this is a secure lock box, which I will have sole access to,” Shrimpton said in the notice.

Residents who are unsure whether they requested a ballot for the Nov. 3 election, or who have other questions, can call Shrimpton at 413-339-5518 (work) or 413-339-4091 (home), or email her at townclerk@townofhawley.com.

Shrimpton notes residents can always vote in person on Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will also be early voting sessions at Town Hall between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Oct. 17, Sunday, Oct. 18, Wednesday, Oct. 21, Saturday, Oct. 24, Sunday, Oct. 25, and Wednesday, Oct. 28. Voters must practice social distancing and wear masks.

The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election is Saturday, Oct. 24.

Flu clinic planned for Saturday

HEATH — Franklin County residents are invited to be vaccinated against the flu at the former Heath Elementary School, 18 Jacobs Road, on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Vaccine types offered include injectable flu, flu mist (for children) and a high dose for seniors ages 65 and up, according to a notice from the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG).

Participants are advised to bring an insurance card and forms (available at FRCOG.org/flu-clinic). Vaccination is free for those with insurance, the notice states. Without insurance, the cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children. Masks are required.
