COLRAIN — Two families were displaced from their home on Sunday as a result of an early morning structure fire on Call Road.

Firefighters were dispatched to 175 Call Road at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a fire at a two-and-a-half story wood frame duplex, according to Fire Chief Nicholas Anzuoni. When firefighters arrived, the structure was fully involved. Two vehicles were also on fire.

All residents of the home were able to exit the building safely, and no injuries were reported, he said.

Crews from 12 departments, including one from Halifax Vt., were called to assist with the fire. Firefighters cleared the scene at around 7 p.m., Anzuoni said, but returned to the site twice to check for hot spots.

The structure is considered a complete loss, according to Anzuoni.

“I don’t believe they salvaged anything from the house,” he said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated jointly by the Colrain Fire Department, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Colrain Police Department, according to the Colrain Firefighters’ Association.

The families who lived in the duplex told first responders they have a place to stay, and Red Cross is also working with the families.

Fundraising pages have been set up for both families who lived in the duplex on Call Road. According to the pages — which have been set up using GoFundMe — money raised will go toward housing and other necessities to get the families back on their feet.

The fundraiser to “help Sonya and Ed” can be found at bit.ly/3240mM3 and the fundraiser for the Clark and Perry family can be found at bit.ly/3iPyuSH. As of Tuesday afternoon, $4,300 had been raised between the two fundraising campaigns.
