CONWAY — Wesley McCoy, of Conway, graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., with a bachelor’s degree in international and global studies, and natural resources and the environment. The commencement ceremonies on May 10 were held remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
WHATELY — The Selectboard has approved reopening the Town Offices for the purpose of early voting for select hours on Aug. 22 through Aug. 28 and Oct. 17 though Oct. 29. The Town Offices will also be open to the public on Sept. 1 for the state primary and Nov. 3 for the general election.
WHATELY — Town officials plan to submit a grant proposal to the Shared Streets and Spaces Grant Program, which awards funding for improvement projects involving sidewalks, curbs and parking.
At the most recent Selectboard meeting, board members and other town officials discussed various ideas, but they have not selected a final project for which to pursue funding.
SOUTH DEERFIELD — Holy Name of Jesus Parish will sponsor a takeout-style chicken barbecue on Sunday, Aug. 30, from noon to 2 p.m. at the church on Thayer Street.
The menu will include chicken, a baked potato, corn, Texas-style baked beans, salad, corn bread and dessert. The cost is $15 per ticket. Prizes are available.
