Hannah Gilbert smacked nine hits, including a grand slam, to help the Valley Storm 12U softball team to a pair of victories to close out its summer slate at the Leominster Lassie League Skirt in the Dirt Event over the weekend.

The Storm swept a doubleheader on Saturday against the North County Spark, picking up 12-5 and 19-8 victories. They weren’t able to capture any wins on Sunday.

Kenzie Paulin (13 innings, 10 strikeouts) and Maggie Fay (10 innings, six strikeouts) handled the pitching duties for the Storm, and each picked up a win in the circle.

In addition to her grand slam, Gilbert also had a triple and a double, and she drove in seven runs to set the table. Paulin had three hits and three RBIs, while Mel Ring (double), Fay, Amelia Pierce and Kylee Gamache all had three hits and two RBIs. Skyler Steele (two hits, three RBIs), Cordelia Guerin (two hits, two RBIs), Anna Bucala (hit, four RBIs) and Haly Doucette-Kaplan (hit) all contributed to the offensive effort.

Tryouts for next year’s roster begin this week. Teams participate in fall ball leagues, fall tournaments, winter training, and spring and summer tournaments. Please visit the Valley Storm website for details (www.valleystormsoftball.com).
