CONWAY — A fire at 94 Newhall Road Saturday night destroyed a shed and a pickup truck, but was put out quickly and did not spread to the house. No one was injured.

The Fire Department was called at 6:18 p.m., Chief Robert Baker said. A neighbor had noticed that the shed behind the house was on fire, called 911, and knocked on the front door of the house to alert the homeowners, who were inside and hadn’t seen anything.

Firefighters arrived within 10 minutes, a relatively fast response time, Baker said. By this time the fire was “fully involved” and would have soon spread to the house. Also responding with the Conway Fire Department were Ashfield, Deerfield, South Deerfield and Whately.

It took about 20 minutes to put out the fire, Baker said. Firefighters managed to prevent it from reaching the house, but the shed and a pickup truck next to it were already totally destroyed.

The cause of the fire is unknown, Baker said. He expected the state fire marshal to visit Monday morning to investigate.
