GREENFIELD — Authorities are investigating the cause of a rollover crash Friday night that sent one person to the hospital.
Shortly after 7 p.m., Massachusetts State Police, as well as the Greenfield Police Department and the Greenfield Fire Department’s Engines no. 2 and 5, ambulance and heavy rescue responded to reports of a crash on Interstate 91 northbound.
Around the 44.8 mile marker, a vehicle was found to have rolled over “on (its) roof,” with its single occupant trapped inside, according to Greenfield Police.
Initially, a Life Flight aircraft was requested, with the closest available having a 45-minute estimated time of arrival. That flight was later called off when crews were able to successfully extract the occupant, who was transported to the hospital by American Medical Response.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
The identity of the driver and the extent of their injuries have not yet been released.
